- Submitted By George on 07/02/2019We have had Blue Apron for over a year now. They have cleaned up alot of mistakes from the past - missing ingredients, etc.. Their food is very good, they know how to spice a dish and great sauces. We will keep using them. However, I have to say, there are now several competitors with fully organic food and a wider choice of meals each week. We are going to check them out. Organic food matters. If BA wants to survive for another year (I hope they do), they are at least going to have to expand their choices to 18 a week.
- Submitted By LISA on 03/23/2019I have tried many different delivery services. I love to cook and have no problems in the kitchen, however sometimes shopping and planning...well there is no time. I love that you can choose which recipes you like which meats ect. Why better than fast food and takes just about the same time. things I would like they change, less pots to clean, and tripe the veggies in each recipe; CUSTOMER SERCVICE IS THE BEST. However I wish they would not send a box unless I order, trying to remember to cancel for the week because I wont be home is something
- Submitted By Virginia Cole on 11/28/2018When I first started using Blue Apron, I was amazed! The meals were delicious, flavorful, and very easy to prepare. We slowly switched to eating Blue Apron meals six days every single week and it was all great until a couple of months ago when they started sending the shipments late and missing the ingredients. Sometimes they don’t pack a garnish or a spice which isn’t a deal breaker but I’ve missed main ingredients a couple of times as well. Hope Blue Apron ups their game since I would really hate to switch companies after such pleasant experiences in the past.
- Submitted By Jan on 09/04/2018I have been using Blue Apron for about 10 months now. The ingredients are always fresh. The recipes have been delicious. And the variety and portion sizes make BA a top meal delivery service. I would recommend BA to anyone looking to cook healthy meal options. I love BA and can't imagine what I'd do without them now. I can't remember how we cooked prior to BA. Our meal planning before BA was so blah now that I think about it. Sign up for BA and you really will be glad you gave them a try.
- Submitted By Robert Bowser on 05/05/2019I have been subscribing to Sun Basket for about a year after trying 3 or 4 other meal / recipe providers. I am very impressed with how Sun basket has continuously improved. Their re pies are well constructed, simple, healthy, delicious, and very easy to execute with most of the heavy lifting (sauces etc) already done. Ingredients are well chosen, organic, and top notch. They contain to work to reduce the u excess Arya packaging, This is by far the best of the meal providers I have experienced. I really enjoy this and as someone who cooks a lot, I learn constantly from the construction of their meals. Most importantly, this is an easy 30 minute dinner for when we just want to eat well without a lot of fuss or preparation. Love it.
- Submitted By Katherine Sandouk on 03/16/2019I am extremely disappointed with this meal subscription service and I have tried a few of them. They have a no-refund policy, which other meal subscription services I have used do because sometimes it's hard to skip every week. On top of that it was hard for me to figure out how to put my account on hold. I tried to get them to cancel my account in November and it didn't work so I had to just skip a bunch of weeks and try to figure out again how to close my account. Then when I finally didn't get the time to skip a bunch more which is also hard to do via your phone and tried over and over to get my account put on hold via desktop and mobile it caught up to me and they charged me over 80$, all they could do was give me 20$ back and say I think that's more than fair, uh no that's horrible customer service. They say they don't have the man power to take your package off the line, well you should figure something out if you want people to return to you in the future. And now I wont be able to pay my bills because of them. If they can afford to give out 80$ coupons, I think they can afford to refund me ALL my money back. I don't recommend them If you want an easy to use, and refund friendly subscription. BTW this happened to me twice with them. I am a busy mom and I promise you I tried several times to straighten this out, it's not easy enough. I've tried home chef, freshly and plated.
- Submitted By Diana Bryant on 02/15/2019I’ve been trying to use much more veggies and healthy foods in my diet recently and I also discovered my love for international cusine and I have Sun Basket to thank for all that. I became a real adventurer when it comes to food and I get to enjoy loads of different recipes every week and share them with my loved ones. As with any meal service, there’s gonna be some repetition but not even close as much as with some other companies I used in the past.
- Submitted By Denisse Simmons on 02/07/2019One of the best things about Sun Basket for me is the fact that it reduces food waste by a lot. I simply get the exact amounts I’ll need to make any particular dish and never end up with an extra head of cabbage or something like that. It has also reduced my visits to to the store to let’s say basically once every week.

Variety
When it comes to variety, both Sunbasket and Blue Apron work hard on providing you with plenty of choices. We have to say that they truly excel in that department. Sunbasket offers 18 mouth-watering recipes every week. All 18 recipes are featured on the Classic menu, along with a couple of add-ons like 5-minute salads, snacks, and dips. The Family menu features 6 kid-friendly options per week.
Blue Apron’s team brings you 22 meals weekly – 8 of them available with the Signature plan for omnivorous couples, 5 of them available with the Signature plan for omnivorous families, 3 featured on the 2-Serving Vegetarian menu, and 6 available on the 2-serving menu designed in cooperation with WW.
Nutritional Value
Cooking with Sunbasket and Blue Apron brings you the comfort of knowing you are providing your body with all the valuable nutrients in just the right ratio. The meals both companies offer are optimally balanced, without any excess fat, carbs, sodium or sugar.
They also provide you with nutritional information on each and every meal on their menus, including the calorie count. That way, they allow you to keep track of your calorie intake, which can be incredibly useful if you are on a special diet regime.
Sunbasket even has an in-house nutritionist who makes sure that every single dish is incredibly nutritious and good for your health. Still, Blue Apron does not fall behind. When it comes to this aspect of the service, you cannot go wrong, no matter which one of the two you choose.
Portion Size
If you like your portions ample and want to feel full at the end of each meal, the good news is both Sunbasket and Blue Apron can keep you completely satisfied. Their meals are perfectly portioned, but they also keep in mind the magic of leftovers. Every time, they deliver just enough ingredients for you to enjoy a great meal and have some of it left for later enjoyment.
Flexibility
When it comes to the flexibility of subscription, Blue Apron and Sunbasket have truly done everything they can in order to keep you satisfied. They want you to stick with them not because you have to but because you want to.
They both let you skip a delivery whenever you want or need. You can also cancel your subscription, without any penalties. However, you should keep in mind that you should state your intentions of canceling or skipping before your order is processed, so you can avoid having to pay for the delivery you did not want in the first place.
Both Sunbasket and Blue Apron meals come with a satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your delivery, you can receive a full refund.
Price
Sunbasket is a bit pricier than Blue Apron. Sunbasket meals cost $10.99-$12.99 per serving with the Classic plan and $10.99 per serving with the Family plan. Although higher than with Blue Apron, its prices are around average when it comes to meal delivery services of this kind. However, we do not like the fact that the shipping costs $6.99 for all orders except for the first one.
With Blue Apron, you pay $9.99 per serving if you are cooking for 2 people. Recipes for 4 people cost between $7.49 and $8.99, depending on the number of recipes in your box. Shipping is free on all orders except for 2-recipe boxes for 2 people, which come with a $7.99 shipping fee.
